Gold is only found in the belly of the earth. If you want it, dig it and it will be yours. In like manner in every one’s “belly” are talents. If you want to know, you have to dig, that is when it can be beneficial to you and others.

The benefits will become a reality only when you pursue a profession that is in line with talents.

It is engaging in a profession that is in line with talents that brings fulfillment. Doing otherwise will leads to frustration.

PRODUCTIVITY CENTRE

The work an individual does for a living is a very important part of his or her life, since it constitutes the source of income for his own survival as well as that of his dependents. Therefore one has to put a high premium on his or her work by putting in his or her best. Everything that would help to maintain and improve his or her productivity level should be done and not taken for granted.

Apart from academic qualifications and experiences that are major inputs for the required performance, there are aspects of our lives that impact our productivity. These other areas include the way and manner in which we relate to our spouses, our social lives, how we manage stress, and issues of accommodation. If these areas of our lives are well managed, it will impact positively on our productivity at the work place. If not well managed, they would have an adverse impact on our wellbeing and consequently our productivity levels.

As humans, we do have misunderstandings with our spouses, close relatives and those we come in contact with on regular bases. We go through stressful moments that stem from combining household, work place and social responsibilities. Many Ghanaian workers struggle with the issue of owning a house in order to free themselves from the perennial ejection by land lords/ladies and payment of huge rent advance.

To help workers to manage these inevitable human endeavours, the Productivity Centre organizes a productivity driven orientation clinic for workers. The clinic treats the following:

(i) Productivity inspired spousal relationship.

(ii) The strategy to acquire a home.

(iii) Stress Management.

(iv) Relational Skills.

(v) Anger Management.

(vi) Investment awareness and orientation.

Objective: It is intended that at the end of the clinic, each participant would have been motivated and inspired to:

(i) Communicate in appropriate and effective manner with the spouse

(ii) Learn to plan to own a house by retirement.

(iii) Manage stress successfully.

(iv) Learn effective and appropriate relational skills.

(v) Know the various opportunities for higher dividends investments.

(vi) Increase his or her productivity in all income generating ventures.

The Team of resource persons

The team is made up of professional counselors, clinical psychologists, home economists and investment experts who are masters in their respective fields. Aside the academic qualifications, they have a wide range of experiences and exposures. The details of the resource persons are attached.

Talents and Youth

Talents are the natural ability you possess; they are innate (born with). They are part and parcel of your genes. These natural endowments enable you to exhibit abilities which are unique. Unique in the sense that, the beneficiaries are happy with the services you are able to provide for them. You as the performer will always be happy and fulfilled as long as you engage your talents. This means engaging in a vocation or profession that matches your talents, being it singing, medicine, soccer, teaching, farming and the rest. Engaging in a vocation that does not match your talents is likely to bring you job dissatisfaction.

Talents are like nuggets hidden in the belly of the earth. They have to be explored, discovered, mined, refined, polished before used for our benefits and enjoyments. In like manner, the hidden talents in you are inborn. They have to be explored, discovered, nurtured, polished and used for your own benefits and enjoyment as well as others. This is one of the challenges many a contemporary youth faces in Ghana.

Choosing of a Partner

We hear many organizations including the Church tell the younger folks to come for pre-marital counselling before contracting marriage. That is a good suggestion, but who guides them to choose suitable partners first, before the pre-marital counselling? We believe the contemporary youth has to be guided to choose future partners before pre-marital counselling.
